Who?
Sweet Umami is a Belgian indie rock collective defined by a decade of musical evolution. Their sound blends the grit of grunge with the atmosphere of dream pop, shaped by introspective lyrics and melodic precision. Currently finalizing their debut album (planned for late 2026/early 2027), the band is distilling ten years of collaboration into a definitive sonic landscape.
origin story
In 2017 Stéphane was on the lookout for new members to join his cult, I mean band. Tibby, Jasper and Wouter were playing in Penguin Overboard but jumped ship pretty quickly.
Amidst the pandemic Didier left the fanfare and joined our band as trumpeteer, guitarist and backvocalisto. The final piece of our musical puzzle joined in 2021; Mathias hit the drums! Mathias and Tibby used to be in a band 10 years prior. We were complete, hit the studios pretty quickly and started doin' shows while releasing new songs on a regular basis. We released our first tracks in november '22. Tibby also released some solo shtuff.
